About this work

Sea wall at Footdee. The sea wall plays a vital role in protecting the settlement of Footdee from the damage caused by winter storms blowing in across the North Sea. A few months ago this was a very important local issue and residents were in discussion with Aberdeen City Council over the costs and importance of maintaining this sea wall. It was estimated in the local press that £10 million will need to be spent on sea defences to prevent the danger of flooding to local houses. The curved part at the top of the wall encourages the water to fall back to the sea rather than coming over the top. As can be seen in the photograph the cottages are very close by.
