1,000 views on 18th November 2013 On a cold, windy and damp evening - Armistice Day 2013 - Pipe Major Kenny Watson of Northern Constabulary Community Pipe Band plays a slow air outside Police Headquarters, Inverness in memory of the two Inverness Burgh Police officers who fell while serving in the British Army in the Great War. This is the first Armistice Day in more than half a century that their memorial has been on public display, so it seemed rather fitting that we honour Constables Duncan Campbell and Kenneth MacKenzie (and the other Highland police officers who died in the "Great War" in the service of their country) in this wee but heartfelt ceremony. The seven Highland police officers killed in action in the First World War (who are commemorated as police officers) are: INVERNESS BURGH POLICE: PC DUNCAN CAMPBELL PC KENNETH MACKENZIE INVERNESS-SHIRE CONSTABULARY : PC HARRY U FRASER ROSS & CROMARTY CONSTABULARY: PC WILLIAM MACDONALD PC ALEXANDER GORDON PC DONALD MORRISON CAITHNESS-SHIRE CONSTABULARY: PC SINCLAIR COWAN, MM God bless them all, and all who fell.
